So I came across.....

this article the other day and thought that I would share it with you. I don't know at this time if this really works but if you know anything about it let me know or if you have tried it does it work?

Wow- very interesting....

ONIONS! I had never heard this!!!
PLEASE READ TO THE END: IMPORTANT

In 1919 when the flu killed 40 million people there was this Doctor that visited the many farmers to see if he could help them combat the flu...
Many of the farmers and their families had contracted it and many died.

The doctor came upon this one farmer and to his surprise, everyone was very healthy. When the doctor asked what the farmer was doing that was different the wife replied that she had placed an unpeeled onion in a dish in the rooms of the home, (probably only two rooms back then). The doctor couldn't believe it and asked if he could have one of the onions and place it under the microscope. She gave him one and when he did this, he did find the flu virus in the onion. It obviously absorbed the bacteria, therefore, keeping the family healthy.

Now, I heard this story from my hairdresser. She said that several years ago, many of her employees were coming down with the flu, and so were many of her customers. The next year she placed several bowls with onions around in her shop. To her surprise, none of her staff got sick. It must work. Try it and see what happens. We did it last year and we never got the flu.

Now there is a P. S. to this for I sent it to a friend in Oregon who regularly contributes material to me on health issues. She replied with this most interesting experience about onions:

Thanks for the reminder. I don't know about the farmer's story...but, I do know that I contacted pneumonia, and, needless to say, I was very ill... I came across an article that said to cut both ends off an onion put it into an empty jar, and place the jar next to the sick patient at night. It said the onion would be black in the morning from the germs...sure enough it happened just like that...the onion was a mess and I began to feel better.

Another thing I read in the article was that onions and garlic placed around the room saved many from the black plague years ago. They have powerful antibacterial, antiseptic properties.

This is the other note. Lots of times when we have stomach problems we don't know what to blame. Maybe it's the onions that are to blame. Onions absorb bacteria is the reason they are so good at preventing us from getting colds and flu and is the very reason we shouldn't eat an onion that has been sitting for a time after it has been cut open.

LEFT OVER ONIONS ARE POISONOUS

I had the wonderful privilege of touring Mullins Food Products, Makers of mayonnaise. Questions about food poisoning came up, and I wanted to share what I learned from a chemist.

Ed, who was our tour guide, is a food chemistry whiz. During the tour, someone asked if we really needed to worry about mayonnaise. People are always worried that mayonnaise will spoil. Ed's answer will surprise you. Ed said that all commercially-made mayo is completely safe.

"It doesn't even have to be refrigerated. No harm in refrigerating it, but it's not really necessary." He explained that the pH in mayonnaise is set at a point that bacteria could not survive in that environment. He then talked about the summer picnic, with the bowl of potato salad sitting on the table, and how everyone blames the mayonnaise when someone gets sick.

Ed says that, when food poisoning is reported, the first thing the officials look for is when the 'victim' last ate ONIONS and where those onions came from (in the potato salad?). Ed says it's not the mayonnaise (as long as it's not homemade mayo) that spoils in the outdoors. It's probably the ONIONS, and if not the onions, it's the POTATOES.

He explained onions are a huge magnet for bacteria, especially uncooked onions. You should never plan to keep a portion of a sliced onion.. He says it's not even safe if you put it in a zip-lock bag and put it in your refrigerator.

It's already contaminated enough just by being cut open and out for a bit, that it can be a danger to you (and doubly watch out for those onions you put in your hotdogs at the baseball park!). Ed says if you take the leftover onion and cook it like crazy you'll probably be okay, but if you slice that leftover onion and put on your sandwich, you're asking for trouble. Both the onions and the moist potato in a potato salad, will attract and grow bacteria faster than any commercial mayonnaise will even begin to break down.

Also, dogs should never eat onions. Their stomachs cannot metabolize onions.

Please remember it is dangerous to cut an onion and try to use it to cook the next day, it becomes highly poisonous for even a single night and creates toxic bacteria which may cause adverse stomach infections because of excess bile secretions and even food poisoning.

Please pass this on to all you love and care about.

Influenster College VoxBox 2012 Review

So I received a box of products to sample and review from influenster and it was the college VoxBox.

The contents were as follows:

Impress Press-On Manicure- Valued at $5.99 for colors and $7.99 for patterns.
I can say that I was not very impressed with these because they seemed very weak and thin. They came off only after lasting not even a full day. I would not purchase this item anytime soon in the near future and considering the price I don't think they are worth the money.

NYC New York Color Show Time Glitter Eyeliner Pencil- Valued at $2.49 per pencil.
I love this eyeliner pencil I would purchase it again in the future. It goes on smooth and it doesn't run. It is great for a day or night look.

Necco Tropical Wafers-valued at $1.25 each, $24.00 per box, $37.50 per Tub.
These are a new product that have not quite hit the shelves yet. They are not my favorite because they have a chalk texture to them and the favors are a little out there for me.

Pentel Energel-X Campaign- Valued at $1.90 per pen.
Coming from a person who has over 300 pens herself (some people collect stamps, I collect pens), I love this pen it doesn't bled or smudge. It glides and writes smooth. It even came in my favorite color PURPLE!!! I will be looking to purchase different colors in the near future of this type of pen.

Energy Sheets- Valued at $5.95 per pack of 10 sheets.
This product is like a breath mint mixed with energy. It did give me the energy that I needed and lasted for a while. There was no crash effect to them either. I will be purchasing this product as well in the near future.

Well that was all the products that I got and reviewed. I hope you enjoyed my review on each of the new products that are coming out soon or have just hit the shelves.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!

Well.....

I don't have a lot to post about today. Except that we are going to an auction tonight to see what kind of furniture they have so that I can maybe start the rest of my organizing in my scrapbooking room. I am very anxious to get it going and move on to another room in the house. The reason I choose this room first is because it is suppose to be the dining room but we don't see the means to use it as one and it is by the front door so when everyone comes over its one of the first rooms that you see.

So tomorrow hopefully I can go to the Dollar Store and get some storage baskets/containers and get the rest of this stuff under control. The kind of attitude I am going to have is if the container is full then it probably needs to go because I have to much of that one thing. But anything that comes out of my scrapbooking room I will probably give away to someone I know that scrapbooks and know that they will put it use.

I am going to try and document the process as I go as much as I can. I have playing around with Blogger and have figured out a few things with it (such as scheduling post so that I can get ahead a little bit).

Well I am off to anxiously await for tonight to go to the auction and hopefully find some things that I need to organize with.

Have a great day and Thanks for stopping in!!!

Organizing my scrapbooking room!!

I have been through almost everything in my scrapbooking room. I have gotten rid of some much stuff now I am just waiting for payday to come along so I can go to the dollar store and get some organization things so that I can start making it look nice. I have also put an ad out there that I am looking for a small white dresser and cabinet.

Here is the finished look for now.
Cluttered, yes I know thats where the organizational bins come in on payday. ;)

I have finally set up my station where all the kids school papers go and a place for the mail. We don't just get our mail here we get one of our friends and still some of the landlords. I have cleaned up my living room and got rid of lots of nicknack's and have even decorated some.

Here is my family station.

Full View

Mail holder and Paper holder

I go through the papers at the end of the week and keep what is important and some of the kid's school work and I put everything into their places. The mail stays there until one of the 2 other people  come over to get it or its time to pay bills.

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Boy am I behind, way behind!

So since the last time I posted any thing, I have been watching my niece and she is still very little and requires a lot of my attention. So with that being say I have fallen off my organization train. I have not been watching her the last couple of days and I am really tiring to get back on track with things. I have manged to get everything clean but now it is time to organize things and get my family back on track. We have been on track for the most part as far as following the nightly route.

I am hoping to get a job soon so that I can really get back in to the swing of things. I have seen the same 4 walls for far to long and i ma losing my mind. I have to figure out a different way that works for me also as far as organizing coupons. I am going to watch lots of Youtube videos and try out new things and see what works best for me. As far as my binder I still have it and I still use it. It has my bi-weekly/monthly budget in it, schedules, grocery list, etc and I need those on a daily/weekly basis.

I don't have a picture share for this post either sorry. :(

I know I have said this before but I am really really going to try and keep up post on here. I need a notebook for all of ideas that I have and spend more time writing them out.

I hope everyone has a great day!!!

I'm behind!!!!

Ok so we went camping over the weekend and I took Monday off from the blog so I could get some R&R and treat sunburns. We found out that the sunscreen we have lied and it's not waterproof no matter how many times you reapply it. So here is a pic of the kids playing in the water.

And then here is a picture of a sailboat that we saw. It doesn't have it's sail up and it has a motor so I don't know what you would call a sailboat with a motor or is it even a sailboat. LOL!

Friday before we left I went to WalMart to get the kids school supplies because it was the first day of the Tax Free weekend here where I live. I got up real early with the kids and waited for my niece to get here because I was babysitting her and we left. I got there before the crowd and got all of the kids school supplies (not including backpacks). I got 4 kids all of their school supplies for $74 bucks I have to say that is the cheapest year for school supplies for us.

But we decided to go camping one more time before the kids start school next Tuesday. So with that being said I am going to start next week with the couponing part of this blog talk. I will go on my first big shopping trip next week as well and I hope to blog about the experience. I did a small one before we left and the total was $26 and some change and I saved $6 with coupons and they were snacks for the trip and lasted the whole time. I was super excited.

So I am going to leave it at this for now. I am going to try and get caught up on some things around the house adn plan out next week blogs so that they are a little more organized.

Have a great day!!!

Day 7 and 8 of the New Journey

Well I don't have any pictures to post with this post, it has been real busy around here lately. I have been watching my niece and I tell ya I forgot how hard it is to take care of a baby. But I enjoy it because I get to see her grow and see the new things that she does such as rolling over and trying to sit-up. I haven't really had time to post and take pictures. So today I am going to talk about how my cleaning and organization schedule is.

I take a few times throughout the day to get quick cleaning and deep cleaning done. This way I don't overwhelm myself with housework and I still have time throughout the day to get other things done including checking emails, Facebook, start on a Blog, etc.

The definition of quick clean for me is wiping down counters in the kitchen, doing dishes, clean any spills etc, sweeping and spot moping. Vacuuming high traffic areas, wiping down counters in the bathroom, picking up odds and ends that are out of place.

The definition of deep clean for me is to take a room each day of the week such as the kitchen where I wipe down all cabinets, appliances, clean out microwave, mop thoroughly, etc. I set a day for each one to get done. Once again this is so I don't get overwhelmed with cleaning and each room of my house gets deep cleaned at least once a week. As things arise and big messes are made then I will do a deep cleaning anyway but for the most part a quick clean each day until its deep clean day helps keep the house clean throughout the week.

Wednesdays I set aside for running any errands that I need to do such as making doctor appointments, paying bills, etc. Then I also clean out the car (vacuum, take out trash, wipe the car down, etc). I also deep clean the laundry room and clean out the frig. This helps keep everything clean and organized.

Now when I started this cleaning schedule I did not deep clean everything to have a fresh start so far on each day that I have set aside for a deep clean that is when that room got deep cleaned. Things don't happen over night. It took a few days to get dirty but I worked on it day by day and got things done. Now I can follow the schedule better now that all rooms have been deep cleaned.

Things to come next week:

Tomorrow ends the week for getting organized, cleaning, family management and family scheduling. Next week I will go over how I started couponing and give you some tips and tricks that work best for me and my family.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!!

Day 6 Of the New Journey

Above this post I posted pictures for my new family management binder. It is just a pla

i

n 1 and a half inch binder filled with lined notebook paper. I used things that I had around the house instead of going out and buying everything. Its cheaper that way. The first photo is of the cover, the second photo is of how I just wrote on the lined paper what each section was and used post-it notes to section off each section. The third photo is of a folder that I have added for all the bills that I have not paid for the month yet but need to pay before they are due. Once I have paid them I will file them away. The last photo is of a receipt book that I will be keeping in there also for my personal use. This is what I have used to get started so far. In future post you will se

e more of the inside of the binder at the sections I have selected,

my calendar and other things that I use outside of the binder.

Remember I am just starting out and ideas might come and go with me.

I will figure out what works best for my family

Well I stuck to the new schedule for the most part today. Even though Wednesdays are the days I have set for my day to do errands, I had to go and register the kids for school. Then I had to go my youngest sons doctor to have them fill in his shot record so that the school had proof he had all his shots and so that he could start school on time. Well I hope everyone had a great day!

TEST POST

I am just test posting from my tablet. I am seeing if it will let me upload pictures from it instead of from my computer. Since I like to blog in my bedroom after the kids go to bed and my computer is in the scrapbooking/office and I don't want to have to stay up all night in there while my husband goes to bed.
So if this works like I hope it will in the picture is what we had for dinner.
Its bake lemon pepper chicken which was baked on a bed of dry rice and then covered with water. Sweet potato mash with gravy and the rice the chicken was baked with and gravy to cover it. It was delicious!!! Enjoy!

Day 4 and 5 of the new journey.

Today was well spent clipping coupons that I printed off the internet. We had a great day with the kids, we took them to the riverside park and let them play for a while in the water. Then we took them over to a park that we call a water park. It was several little areas within it that water comes out in different patterns and they can play in it. It smells like if we go to the public pool. It also has a regular park right next to it that has a slide swings etc. They had a blast and I think they are exhausted.

Tonight is the night we start our nightly routine for when school starts. It starts in about 2 to 2 and a half weeks here for us. All the kids start baths at 7 o'clock and any one age 5-11 go to bed at 8:30 and anyone 12 and older goes to bed at 9. I have it set-up this way because my step son was falling asleep in class when I was letting them got to bed at 9. And the older one (yes there is only one 12 and older child she is only 12) goes to bed at 9 because she gets a little more privilege. Once the 3 boys reach 12 then they will also get the same privilege. I start this routine early because normally it takes them that long to get back into swing of things so when school starts there will be no excuses.

Tomorrow I have to go and register the kids at their new schools. I am going to have 4 kids going to 3 different schools. My youngest who is 5 with be going to school by himself after last year he went with both his older brothers. He will now be going to a school that is for kindergarten to 3rd grade. Then my step son and son will be going to another school that is for 4th and 5th graders. Then my oldest and only daughter will be going to junior high. I have not had to deal with 3 schools this will be different for all of this year and I am hoping that my youngest adapts well without his older brother there with him.

Yesterday was a day of cleaning and getting the house back in order so not a whole lot to report about yesterday. But I do have to say by the time we went to bed it didn't look like we had cleaned much and I was to tired to even tidy up. But when I got up this morning my husband had everything cleaned for me and even brought me coffee in bed. I miss those mornings since school is out for the summer I don't get up with him to see him off to work so I don't get my coffee in bed fair enough though.

So tomorrows post I am hoping to have photos added to the post so that it is not so boring and your just not reading my long drawn out post. I am going to start sharing my family mangement binder and my coupon system since it is the beginning of the week and I can officially start to put things in motion.

So until tomorrow have a great day, night , evening!!!

Day 2 and 3 of the new journey.

Well yesterday was a day of deep cleaning the whole house so that I can get ready to follow the new schedule next week. I don't like starting things in the middle of the week, its part of my OCD. I really deep cleaned the kitchen and the living and got part of my bedroom done. That took me all day to do because I have 4 kids and a bunch of junk to go through and things laying out of place. So that was day 2. Day 3 (which would be today) I printed out several different coupons and looked at some deals that were online. I have a really cool app on my phone that compares sales at stores and the coupons that you could possible use and even some that you can print off. There are several great deals out there right now but since it is so close to the end of the week and new sales will be starting I didn't jump on any yet. I will check again after the sales start again around next Wednesday. But I did find some great coupon codes for photo prints at Walgreens. You can find them by searching for Walgreens photo printing, the only things is that they expire tomorrow. But the first order I ordered 134 photos for $13.00 with a coupon code to save 40% off the order, I then picked them up locally after ordering them online. Then I put in a second order for 304 for $17.68 and I used the 40% coupon code and I also used a coupon for free shipping. So those  will be getting shipped to me and they should be here in a week, which is fine I got a great price considering if I didn't use the coupon codes the total would have been $85 and that's with shipping and handling. So this couponing thing has got off on a good start. I am hoping to start all these new changes in full swing (not just some here and there like I have been doing the last 3 days) next week. Its been kinda hard because I have been watching my 3 month old niece and I forgot how needy babies can be. I love her to death and I am not complaining but I just need to balance things out when she is here and relearn how to take care of a baby and do house work, etc. I am also going to start posting pictures to go along with my post. I know that the post can get boring if you don't have something pretty or inspirational to look at within the post. So the next few days over the weekend they are going to be kinda boring until I put the throttle into full speed on Monday. So I am going to sign off for today.

Hope everyone had a great day!!!

New Journey

Hello,

My name is Krystal, I am happily married to the most wonderful husband in the world going on 5 years now. We have 4 kids between the 2 of us. He has 1 son and I have 1 daughter and 2 sons. I recently graduated from college for Associates Degree in Applied Science in Medical Transcription (transcribes (types and edits) doctors recorded diction into hard copy format (paper) to put into a patients file). Since graduating I have not been able to find work: 1. Because when I went into the field of study they were in high demand and after I graduated technology had taken over and my job is almost nonexistent, 2. Anyone still using Medical Transcriptionist want ones with years of experience and are not willing to give people like me a chance. So I have been a stay-at-home mom for a little while now. I enjoy staying home and spending more time with my children. Well my youngest has started school and it gets lonely at home sometime. But anyways enough about me.

I have created this blog for everyone to come along on a journey into my life. I have another blog that is for my scrapbooking, card making, mixed media, etc (crafty stuff), but I wanted to have a separate one for my everyday life.  I have been searching the internet and I have come across a few Youtube videos and even Blogs that have to deal with getting organized and family management. I have decided to try and get organized and make a budget for my family and take this journey to see where it takes me. I am going to try and post everyday on the challenges the struggles, and the good out comes for this journey. In future post you will see the advice I have to give for family management, planning, budgeting, and the newly refound couponing. I plan on get this Blog going full steam around next Monday (July 30th). I have still have some preparations to make in order to be ready to start posting. In the meantime I am going to blog about getting prepared for the journey.

I am hoping that in making these changes that we can learn to save when possible, come closer as a family and have a routine that will help get more things done within a day. At this point not a whole lot is going on. I am trying to find the motivation to get healthy, and change my lifestyle for the better plus have the motivation to get more things done within a day (at this point my days are filled next to nothing).

I am the type of person who has to be occupied all the time or my mind starts racing in 90 million different directions. If it is organized then I know what the next thing I have to do is and I have the motivation to do it.

I know you are probably thinking well your going to over do it. That's the thing, I have to have things to do and I could go on and on. I also know when to stop, I know when to much is to much, I know what I can handle. I don't plan on wearing myself out in the process either.

Ok so now that I have rambled on and on now your probably bored so I am going close now for the day and will come back and post again tomorrow.

Have blessed day!!

-Kris-
